I moved to Gorseinon some thirty years ago, I felt it was a good place
to set up my G.V.Bruno Auto Electrical business. Close to the motorway,
good access to the Gower and surrounding communities... and here I have
stayed.
Since my early days in business I have actively helped with youth training in the area from the various School and College programs to managing my own Youth Training School. I presented The TEC board a dossier on merging the Youth Training Program with the adult training program to give youth a chance at learning a full trade. At that time I was told it would never happen, of course later the modern apprenticeship scheme was introduced.
Writer, broadcaster and award-winning producer, his documentary programme “ABERFAN - AN UNKNOWN SPRING” won the prestigious Sony Award for Best Local radio Programme in 1987.
Born in Tredegar, Gwent, Philip was ordained a minister of religion in 1971. He has lived in South West Wales as a student, minister and broadcaster for thirty-five years. An historian as well as a theologian, Philip has worked as scriptwriter and presenter and producer for the BBC and for Commercial Radio Stations. In 1989, his programme “HOORAY FOR THE LAST GRAND ADVENTURE”, documenting Amelia Earhart’s 1928 flight to West Wales, won a special award at the International Radio Festival of New York. In 1996, he won two Andrew Cross Awards for the programme “CHRISTMAS - OUT OF SIGHT AND OUT OF MIND.”
Philip is best known for devising and presenting the Swansea Sound programme
“SONGS FOR SUNDAY”, one of the radio station’s most-popular
programmes. This year the programme will celebrate 25 years of transmission
